Soundbar Placement

Had a so called AV expert over to look atat our LG HDTV and Bose SoundTouch 130 Soundbar. The TV and soundbar sit on top of a media stand. I told him all about the Bose especially the Adaptiq audio calibration process. So after seeing my 130 Soundbar’s placement he said that it should be moved to the front edge of our media stand. His reasoning was that with the soundbar positioned back the sound bounces off of the flat top thereby lessening projection.

Thank you William. Admittedly, I am not up on acoustics. I am always in awe when I go into my ground son’s professional recording studio.

There are many threads here where pics of setups show the center speaker positioned sitting well back on a stand's shelf or buried back in a cubbyhole in an entertainment center...and the recommendation is to do just what your guy said as well. No need for the reflections.
