Hey guys, the last month or so i've gone through a couple recievers trying to get that perfect sound that i enjoy. Unfortunately, I have some Monsoon fpf series speakers (hybrid planars, maggie design, logan look), which are more geared towards HT use. When I first hooked these up to my old JVC flagship from the 90's, they sounded absolutely beautiful, with a bass extension like i've never heard before. But that was an outdated reciever so next I picked up a pioneer vsx-412d, nothing impressive, but dirt cheap at time as i had fried out the jvc experimenting with bi-wiring my monsoons. Replacement came a few weeks ago with an HK-520. The 520 had decent power, and great dynamics, but seemed to be a bit lacking in bass, and has no EQ for custimization, the monsoons tend to be a bit heavy in the mids because of thier intended HT use. With an EQ I can take care of that slight offset. Sold the HK on ebay now and i've been looking at the 1015tx by pioneer, i've read several posts here adn done a fair amount of research on it. I know it's basically the elite clone, but is there a significant sound difference in the 1015 compared to say the 412. I'm not impressed at all with the 412, nor did i expect to be, but before i move on to another Pioneer product, I want to know that there is gona be a better sound quality and amplification. The 412 cant produce very good bass at all, though it sounds good with a sub (dahlquist pdq-1500), the speakers themselves should thunder with extended rich bass, the 412 cannot do that, but hte JVC could. I like the 120 wpc of the 1015tx, even know it may not be as dynamic as the HK, and the 5 band eq will definately play a huge part in sound custimization.
Will the 1015 sound worlds difference from the 412, are they completely different amps, etc. Thanks guys, appreciate it. If not, any recomendations on a high watt, reciever with adjustable EQ, must have EQ!!!! Thanks alot (500$ range)
