Hello...I have read both these companies make good wire for the money...

Anywhere to get Sound King in Canada? Blue Jean will mail to Canada , from Seattle which is not too far from me....

next question, will 12 guage be alright? I find the lower the guage, like 12 compared to 14 or 16 guage, the less bright my speakers are. Does that make sense?

if you're in Canada, try the Axiom Audio wire. their 12 gage is very flexible, even with a thick insulation layer. it's pricier than Sound King, but is a very good product. :)

At over $10 a foot, that's insane. Sorry, but I refuse to spend that on speaker cable. I am looking to get 65 feet of biwire and 60 feet of 10 guage. Bluejeans will set me up for $100.

JC I don't know if you have a Home Depot, Lowes or other such store, but they have perfectly good speaker cables. And at about 20 - 30 cents/ft (USD) its is a great value. I recently bought a 250ft spool of 12 awg cable at Lowes, good build quality, flexible, hell it looks a lot like moster cable just a little different insulation color. couple that with banana plugs from some place like parts express as I did and you are set to go.

OK. Here it is. Went shopping for speaker wire. I have to upgrade my 18awg to my rear surrounds soon or I'm disconnecting them. Looking for 10awg because 10 can handle a 30amp load. 12awg drops down to 20amp. Yeah, it's that big a difference. My towers have 10awg. Home Depot nor Lowes carries 10/2 awg wire. The 12/2 runs .30/ft at Lowes and .34/ft at HD. They sell the banana plugs right there too, much cheaper than radio shack. You'll just need a soldering gun. They did have 10/1 stranded wire, but there were only several strands and the wire just didn't flex like braided. Plus, who wants to run two 10/1's under the floor or through the walls? I'll have to do more research to see if there is that much difference in the two sizes. I have a 35' run, so I'll keep searching.

Thanks buckeyefan. Let me know what you come up with.

I have to completely disagree with that previous post : "speaker wire does not affect speaker sound".

I am no audiophile but I can tell you when i changed my center channel speaker wire from 16 g to 12 g, i heard a huge difference in the high frequency...much brighter with the thinner wire. Does this mean you hear no difference biwiring either?

how can someone say there is no difference when there are so many brands, many grades of quality, all the cable showdowns/reviews on this site....

Buying exotic expensive cables is rediculous if you ask me but saying 10 cents a foot cheapie crap is the same as all the others can't be right either. You have to spend a little, like bluejeans cable, then you won't hear a difference after that.

As long as the gauge is adequate for the power you are running through the wire it will not make a difference. There is no proof that different wire/cable will sound different. Come over to my house and I will run my system with canare 4S11 speaker cable then we will switch to nordost red dawn and you will hear no difference

If you want 10ga BuckeyeFan (GRR....GO BLUE), just go on over to Westlake Electronic. They sell 10/2 Belden speaker cable for super-cheap prices (I think it's in the 20-something cents a foot).

is this Buckeye fan - Go Blue thing something about US college sports of some kind? Wondering what a buckeye fan was anyways...

The two Home Depots I went to here in Canada didn't carry I thought was suitable for speaker cable except just regular lamp cord. I was looking for a clear flexible jacket 12 gauge and all they had was very stiff stuff.

YMMV.

warpdrive...Blue jean cable emailed me back. Here is what they said re: their postage rates:

We ship to Canada by Airmail for our standard shipping charge, which is $9.50 for orders between $50 and $100, and $12.50 for anything over $100. The product prices are $0.57/ft for the ten-gauge speaker wire, and if by the "bi-wire" you mean the Canare 4S11 (available only in grey), that's $1.05/ft; you can see these in our speaker department at: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/index.htm and prices are at: http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/speakerprices.htm

If i can't find much better prices for Sound King, I will go this route...

Yeah, it's College sports, mostly football.

Buckeye is for the Ohio State Buckeyes and my "GO BLUE" is for the University of Michigan Wolverines. Big time and very old college football rivalry. I'm pretty sure it's a law here in Ann Arbor that I need to hate anyone that likes OSU, at least on a sports level :p

Also, did you check out Westlake Electronic from my earlier post? They have much better prices on both Belden and Canare cable. Unless you're having Blue Jeans terminate the cable for you, I don't see why you wouldn't order from there, unless the shipping prices are rediculous from WestLake.
