I don't expect to get get stellar sound from a PC; but, assuming I want the best possible stereo sound for classical music, what sound card do you suggest?

What are you using for speakers and amplification? If you're using an existing stereo system, I would recommend a decent quality Sound Blaster card or the M-Audio Audiophile card. Both of these will give you high quality sound that is on par with good stereo. The only limitation is the quality of your source.

i am currently using a 7.1 ch Creative Soundblaster Audigy card. Works great for the 2 channel computer speakers and the 7.2 channel HT receiver. I bought it at my local computer part store for like 30 dollars. Great sound + Great price. Great bang for the buck if you ask me.
