Sorry, silly question about the HSU Ventriloquist Center speaker.

Why does the center have some many terminals on the back? I read the Product description on the site, it says something about sending mid-bass to the Center somehow and it also matrixes standard 5.1 to 6.1 even without a receiver equipped with 6.1.

Here is a photo.

The Ventriloquist function switch, does that activate the 6.1 function?

Edit: Sorry again, I answered my first question. It is just like high level inputs on a sub, or like a passive sub. Still not sure on the second thing, though that does make the most sense. This seems like a very good system.

No, that switch routes all the bass going to the front speakers speakers through the big drivers on the center channel.

So how does that system create a matrixed 6th channel?

It doesn't. I couldn't find anything about a matrixed 6th channel with the Ventriloquist VT-12 system. on the HSU website it only shows how to use it in the way Sheep described. All that switch does is turns on the internal Xover for the “Ventriloquist” effect to operate.

But why not use the Xover in the receiver, thats what its there for? Unless the receivers Xover can't be selected in the Fq range needed for those cubes

cheers:)

This is quoted from the HSU site

In addition to the sound quality, a special rear center channel allows 6 channel sound from 5 channel sources. The system works by matrixing the back rear channels.
If they are saying what it sounds like they are saying, it's HSU's system that does this, they don't say anything about a receiver or processor. Maybe I am just reading to much into it.
