I know this is bush league for most of you guys on here...but again
I'll preface this request by telling you i'm on a tight budget.

I have 50 inch plasma and an onkyo SR504. I just need some half decent speakers for surround sound in a smallish, 13x14 room. This will only be for movies and tv, no music.

I'm thinking about getting the athena micra 6 system from best buy and being done with it. It gets really good reviews for a small all-in-one system for a small/medium room and is only $285 ($334 with tax and shipping).

How would this compare to getting 4 polk r15 bookshelf speakers , a polk psw10 and a polk center CSW or CS1 ...is there any aspect of the front that has to match the fronts?
This solution would be about $430, which is getting over my max...

Which solution would you go with? are the r15s not good enough for fronts? again, it is a fairly smaller room and i'm not a huge audiophile, just want to have good speakers for movie dialogue and some cool surround effects.

If you are in the US, keep an eye out for the R15s at www.outpost.com as they go on sale for $40 a PAIR which they are right NOW, however the corresponding center and surrounds aren't on sale at the same time usually. They are not specatcular, but for that price, I doubt you'd find anything better. Skip the Polk sub, they suck. The best center that fits your budget would be good. Once you settle those speakers, come back and we can help you find a decent sub with what you have left. Maybe something like the Acoustech H100.

The Micra 6 also goes on sale at Best Buy for as low as $239, if you keep an eye on it.

athena vs. velodyne

yeah, the athena micra 6 just jumped up to $475 on BB...i have an order on backorder for $285...but i was debating whether i should cancel it and just get the velodyne system for $199 and pick up a sub somewhere else. but they don't have any black velodyne's left, only gray and white

has ANYONE received the micra from BB recently? just don't want this backorder to crap out on me...
