Sony to drop the price of BD players by $100

It isn't the price of the standalone BDPs that bother me, it is the fact that the PS3 Gaming Console remains the best value BDP out there now and it remains one of the best quality players as well!!! If the PS3 had 5.1 analog out I would own one right now, yet I still patiently wait for a quality standalone player with 5.1 analog out to match the value of the PS3, 2 plus years into the technology!!!

Where'd you find that out? Did they do a press release?

There is an OPPO Blu-ray player anticipation thread on the AVS Forum. One poster said he called OPPO to get information and that's what they told him. He said anybody can call them up and you'll get the same reply.

I spoke to them also, but they simply don't have a firm date is what it comes down to. The player is in development, so they can't really say when it will be ready at this point.
