I have the opportunity to buy a slightly used Sony STR-K870P for aprox $50. I have tested it out using some rather small speakers and a coax cable.....sounded fairly good. My speakers at home are quite a bit bigger....100 W Angstrom Image speakers as my fronts, 100 W Pioneer Center speaker, 30 W Sony SW and 100 W Heco for my rears.

Should this amp be able to power these speakers and still deliver great sound?

So my question to you is Would You Buy This Amp?

"I" personally wouldn't as I already have too many a piece of audio product lying around, but I'm sure it would be a good value for someone just getting into audio. It's a nice enough price, especially if it comes with a remote control.

Note: That receiver came as part of a home theater in a box system. Fortunately it's one of Sony's creations that involves the use of an actual receiver (one that you can actually use other speakers with and not expect the thing to go up in smoke). It's a very basic receiver but it does have a couple digital connections and even a subwoofer preout (instead of a powered subwoofer output, which would be undesired).
