SONY STR-DN1040 A/V Receiver

I am experiencing a problem where the Protector feature keeps turning off my receiver. I am aware of why this happens but I have speakers that can handle very loud sounds and this should not happen at the volume levels I am using.

This does not happen all the time, just with certain movies (eg: New Star Wars flick). I have tried auto and manual settings, but only know how to enter the ohms (all mine are 8).

Does anyone know a trick to get around this feature?

I know a trick - don't buy Sony receivers.

Now you tell me! <g> I would think most hi-performance receivers would have some sort of feature like this although being able to "not" use it would be nice.

What speaker make and model and what sound levels are you using?
