Hey everybody, first post here and I'm pretty noob at home audio so excuse me if I sound like a complete moron . I was on a pretty tight budget and did a lot of research (at the beginning I was considering hooking car audio up in my room, shows how completely noob I am .). In the end I ordered this subwoofer because it got good reviews at amazon and I heard the smaller 12 inch version in best buy and it sounded pretty good. My question to all of you is, does anyone have this sub already and can give me a detailed review of it, pro's and con's. It's going to be in a pretty small room, 11.4 feet by 10.8 feet. I love bass even if it's boomy and not as tight as most people like. I will mostly be using it for music but I do watch movies also. Also if I was to buy another sub at a price range of 200$ max, what would anyone suggest? Thanks all .

Thanks, but it didn't quite help me which is why I decided to come here.
You have it, yet you want others opinions? I don't understand, if you have heard it why would you need anyone else's subjective opinions?

This is what threw me off then.... said you ordered it. I haven't heard those Sony subwoofers nor seen any measurements, but I'm sure there is better for the money out there (HSU, SVS, eD, etc etc etc).

I know, but for $150, I'm sure it will outperform the Sony too and be fine for a room that size.

Note too though that the Athena brand has been discontinued.

I never liked that subwoofer... pretty boomy. It was loud though.

Try AVS, Home Theater forum, and Ecoustics. Maybe one of those forums has a member that is familiar with the subwoofer you are looking at. I think you will find many people saying either great or really bad things about it. The ones that think it's great like boomy, non-controled bass in large amounts, just one note bass basically (for rap music or what have you) and the ones that hate it will say it's not accurate or all the above. If you don't care about accurate and don't mind a one note subwoofer (which might fit a particular listening style perfectly and it might be perfect for you and that's your perogative) then go ahead and get it.

Most members here are more concerned with quality bass, not lots of boomy, floppy, one note bass. They are few and far between here, and it's not likely many frequent users of this board have experiance with the subwoofer you are considering.

I hope you find what you are looking for, and I am by no means saying you shouldn't buy that subwoofer. Your best bet is to find a way to listen to it before you buy and decide from how it sounds "to you".

I doubt you will find much more advise here concerning that subwoofer, sorry we can't be of more help.:(

A Dayton for Part Express is what the OP needs to be looking at...
