Sony OLED Software upgrades

My Sony OLED TV 73 inch is two yrs old & as of late software upgrades are slowed down to zero . Why is that?

Because the new ones are out and they focus on the current models.

You should plan for getting something like an Apple TV 4K 2022 model, which I've used for a few years and works great, and is updated by both Apple and the various app developers.

The rumours is that Apple will release a new Apple TV this year, or early next, so I'd wait and buy that for a new purchase.

My A80J still gets firmware updates. I even had one on my old 950 series. Usually at 2 years a lot of the bugs worked out and firmware is not updated often.

The last Sony OLED software update for North America was version 6.8022, released on June 23, 2025. This update included improvements to the TV's overall performance, added support for adjusting TV volume with a connected soundbar, and fixed a few issues, including one where a white LED flashes and the TV won't start after updating
