Hey guys,
This is my first post to this forum. I am an audio enthusiast and really love music! My current "theater" setup consists of (2) JBL HLS-610 Speakers and (2) Acoustic Research 208 HO Speakers powered by a Teac AG-V8520 Receiver, and used with a JBL Sub12. I really like this system and it really rocks in the room I've got it in. However, I am in the process of assembling a system for my bedroom and have run into a bit of problem. I recently purchased an RCA 10" powered sub from a friend, a really nice Kenwood receiver, and now (2) Sony MB300H speakers that I got from a friend for a mere $40! The speakers are in virtually perfect cosmetic condition and sounded nice at a low volume at his house, so I was initially very happy with the purchase. However, when I got home and hooked them up and turned up the volume, I was not as happy with what I was hearing! I do really like the mids that they produce (something my other system lacks) and the bass is decent, but at higher volumes the tweeters are so HARSH!!! I thought I had something EQed wrong or something on the new receiver, so I swapped one of the Sonys for one of the JBLs in the theater (without changing a thing) and did a side by side comparison - and the JBLs are so much better and nicer on the ears in the upper frequencies! Basically they sound fine at a low volume, but immediately get harsh when the volume is cranked at all. Is there anyway to tone down this "harshness" of the Sonys?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
