I picked up a XBR65 over the weekend, no manual. Nor a remote! PERFECT condition. It was a friends, that has hardly used it.
I own a professional recording studio . . I know audio, but video is Chinese to me. Was curious about the best way to hook it up. I realize that this TV won't come close to a LCD or plasma, but I'm hopeing it will look better then what I saw coming out of my DVD last night.
I have DISH . . . .
My DVD player has coaxial out, component out, toslink and typical 3 cable audio video outputs. TV has component in, 3 cable video / audio, HD + VD and coaxial. Would like to get digital out of DVD player into TV.
I also would like to use the surround audio that the TV (no reciever) has for now, until I see if this is something I care about keeping or not. I tried hooking up rear speakers, set all audio out on TV and got no rear audio. Main TV speakers sound fine for now for front. I also have a JBL center channel speaker but it looks like I will need a reciever for that as the TV only has Center Channel IN. The DVD player has a Center Channel Output (RCA) so I could split the RCA cable as the center in on the TV is speaker connectors I would probably wait on that at this time. The sub is hooked up to a Cerwin Vega sub from DVD output.
Anyway, any help or input on the TV would be appreciated. I can get it for $1500. If this is a good deal, but as I said, so far I am a bit underwhelmed by the picture. So for $5 dollars it means nothing if the picture isn't happening.
My viewing position is roughly 15 feet away. It seems it looked better at his house, but he had someone come in and hook it up the right way.
