Sony Intros New "BRAVIA" Line of LCD HDTVs

Sony Electronics recently introduced a new sub-brand for its line of high-definition LCD TVs with an unveiling of a right field sign at Yankee Stadium before the New York Yankees - Toronto Blue Jays game. From this point forward, Sony high-definition flat-panel LCD TVs in North America will carry the BRAVIA logo. The first models to carry this new sub-brand will be five LCD TVs ranging in screen sizes from 26- to 40-inches. BRAVIA, short for "Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture," is affixed to Sony's latest LCD flat-panel product line, including soon to be announced models.

All the way up to a whopping 40 inches huh?

I really am interested in replacing my plasma in the family room with a lcd display to deal with glare and some burn-in issues. Unfortunately I want to go UP from 50" and the lcds just aren't there unless I have a decent car to trade in on the Sharp.

My advice is to wait until CES (January 8-11) is over. I think we will see many new models introduced, followed by a price drop in current models Qtr-1
Personally I am still not happy even with very fast responding LCD's for fast motion video, and am hoping to see improvement with new models at CES.

There is a rumor we will see a new flat panel technology emerge at CES 2007 from Mitsubishi and an Australian manufacture. The new laser technology sounds promising but we may not see it for a couple of years if at all. Check your e-mail BMX;)

This post is uber-old...
Holy cow! Yes it is. I thought it was August of this year... But from over a year ago!

Explains why I was a bit confused by the title and the 40" size limitation. But, we really are only (about) 6" beyond that and it has been over a year now.

Where's my 55-65" LCDs... that are price competitive with plasma?

As for replacing my plasma... I think the projector gets replaced with a 1080p model first. Probably mid to late 2007 depending on my finances.

What LCD's in the 40-46" range would you be happy with at the moment?

Sammy 4095/96?
Sharp 62U?

Both of these looked great when I saw them at BB. I looked for but didnt see the apparent banding issues in the 62U.
