I am looking for the perfect media storage/access system for CD, DVD and Bluray. If it could also handle HD-DVD all the better. It needs to have HDMI out that can at a minimum bitstream HD audio and video to my Integra SSP.
This Sony unit seems to fit as they claim it can bitstream audio via HDMI and catalog and store all of my media except HD-DVD. Anyone know any thing about this unit or an alternative that might do what I want?
There is no alternative except for the PS3. The V1000
does not bitstream DTS-Master HD or Dolby TrueHD. It
does not internally decode the new CODEC's and output LPCM either. These two features, as well as the fact that this unit does not play SACD's makes it a non-starter for me. I have a original PS3 that works fine. I have three CX777ES changers run by a Escient Manager so I too am waiting for high capacity disc storage for blu-ray, but the V1000 is not it. If Sony wants 3K for this unit, it will have to support the newest CODEC's, output more fps options and play/store SACD's. I think it is a bad policy for Sony to screw their customers who have supported their technologies and leave us hanging. Keep the ridiculous bluetooth remote technology and give us full support for the technology you want us to buy in to.
