I'm thinking of getting this Home Cinema System. It's a combined Blu Ray player/receiver. However it has no HDMI in (only 1 HDMI out). Question is if I get a HDTV and hook up a HDMI cable from the Blu Ray/receiver's HDMI out to the TV's HDMI in will I get DTS True HD & DTS Master Audio (the Blu Ray player/receiver can decode both)?

TVs are stereo, so that's all you will get from one. If the system comes with speakers or at least has outputs for more than just two, then it will likely give you dts.

Well I would be able to get normal DTS & DD 5.1 from a satellite receiver which has a coax and optical output and then connect to the Blu Ray/receivers inputs.

My sat receiver doesn't have a HDMI input either

Is there any other way I can get DTS True HD & DTS Master Audio without my receiver having a HDMI input?

The unit will play the Dolby True HD & DTS Master Audio from the BD through the speakers. At most the sat box will do DD 5.1 audio which you can send to the Sony via digital coax/optical and send the video straight to the TV via component.

I assume cost is an issue, but these type units should be avoided whenever possible.

It’s not explicit what audio is sent to the TV only via HDMI. See the Audio Output options on pg. 57. I wouldn’t be concerned about those formats going through the TV speakers.

Unfortunately, no. Optical/coaxial cannot pass the signal.
