Sony BDP S300 "can't play disc"

I know it's an old player which I gave to my son. Problem is the screen says "Can't play disc" is ther an easy fix for that or just junk it. Factory reset does not work either.

Hi, Walter. Is this with certain discs, or all of the time?

Sony has a FAQ on that issue at the link here that might help you out. For example, did your son run the Easy Setup procedure after you gave it to him? Maybe the original setup memory was wiped from being powered down for long enough.

He's been using it for about a year now with no problem. Maybe he did change something? It's the same with all the discs. Thanks for the link, I am gona hook it up right now.
