I would like to ask for opinion about using sony "acoustic surface" as only center speaker in home cinema. This tv has extra input so our AV can sent only center chanel to tv. Here are pictures describing it:

I wonder would it be better to use in 5.1 system an "acoustic surface" as central speaker. For example Klipsh 5.1 set but use acoustic surface as center speaker.

I heard it in shop and sound placement was perfect. Sound is coming from actors mouth.

Speakers that are part of a 5.1 setup are usually voiced to all have the same timbre so they all have the same sonic signature for sounds transitioning from on speaker to the next (objects moving L to R, front to back or vice versa). Klipsch, for example does this. You could get lucky, but chances are that Sony would probably stick out like an audible sore thumb.

Interesting take on a center for tvs. I'd sure like to hear that Sony setup before I bought into it, or at least see some measurements of its performance (and what should you pair it with particularly isn't clear). That phrase about connecting an output on the back of the tv to an amp sounds strange, too. Or do they mean an amplified center channel from an external amp to an input connector or what?

Yes, they mean an amplified center channel from an external amp to an input connector.
