Sony 46XBR2 LCD worth the $$$$?

I'm a HDTV newbee that has recently been bitten by the 1080p!
Am planning a small home theater system and am considering the 46" XBR2 LCD. In comparison to most of the other 46" LCD's I've seen, the Sony carries a "heavy" price tag.
1) Is it as nice when you get it home as it is in the entrance to CC coupled with that Blu-ray demo disc?
2)with a Play Station 3?
3)SD cable feed?
4)Mid-range HTIB?
Any and all input greatly appreciated.

I have the 40" version and so far I'm very happy...although I myself am a HDTV / A/V noob. Sorry I dont have much imput, other than all my regular DVDs look 100 times better and the HD channels I get are excellent...wouldnt go back that 's for sure.

In current state of affairs, I'll advise to play safe and get away with v2500 instead till 1.3 hdmi sets roll in few months!

Personally I also have been looking into getting a 46" XBR2. I don't mind spending that kind of money, if I'm sure to get a great picture. There just seems to be mixed reviews on it though, just look at this:
