I'm always roaming the internet looking for new deals. I've come across the sonotube subwoofer.

I must say it's a tempting concept to try. My skills with the router are much greater than with the circular saw so I'm considering giving one a go.

Any of you tried it or see any issues with the attempt?

To me, they are much simpler to build. No complex bracing, separate amp, simple wiring, etc... I am quite pleased with mine. Mine was built by a friend of mine, but the construction is quite simple.

They are pretty popular on the elemental designs forum, have you checked over there?

I have a sonotube that housed a 15" TC2000 tuned to 14hz and I loved it. I am changing to the Danley DTS10 so I sold the driver to Monsterman. I still have the tube and if anyone want's it and can pick it up it's yours for free.:)

A poor mans Bose wave cannon?

Why not?

I would try to find the thickest sono-tube you can get, specially if you are going long with it.

My sub is 18" in diameter, 48" long, tuned to 17.5Hz. It is a Adire Tempest driver which came from the company who is now Epik.

I see no issues with the attempt so get on with it and post lots of pics :)

It seems to me that hometheatershack has the most useful information for DIY sonosubs on the internet but you knew that I'm sure, I've seen you over there...

lol I've seen that before. I like being married most days too much to try that.

I actually found a place that may build 16" x 36" tubes. I'd lose out on some extension but gain some more headroom with the driver I'm using.

I'm trying to build something reasonable for our small room while getting some bass out of it.

Currently I'm subless and it'd really getting to me. :D

Well I don't want them here to know that I've been cheating. The fallout might be epic. I'm a 6k post member here and well they don't take cheating lightly from the forum flooder.

That is where I saw the idea first actually.
