Last time I checked Audiobahn was all about being loud, not accurate. Besides, since it's a car driver, it will have a much higher Fs than the Dayton. You may also wish to check out the XLS drivers from Peerless. They are very accurate and you can find low Fs models in 8 ohm versions. Look at Parts Express #297-608. Although, I don't think it has quite the power handling of the Dayton.

Actually the audiobahn alum 12 N is a very good sub for HT in a vented enclosure. One of the best I've seen (price vs performance). The real trick is that no matter what driver you use, try and keep the excursion low to maintain the linearity of the driver. The farther you push it, the more distortion you are going to get.

I have not seen anyone mention the Soundsplinter drivers. They make a very good driver and the service with Mike is exceptional. You can read and see my sub here http://www.cwitt.com/htpage.htm made with a 15 inch RL-p15 dual 4 ohm model driven by a Behringer EP2500 using 1300 watts. I have compared it directly to SVS and HSU subs in my house and it goes lower and cleaner every time so far. It will fill your room.

How much do you have invested in your project?

The driver was right around $200.00, the amp from ebay I paid $250.00 for. The sonotube and MDF, interior foam, outer covering less than $100.00. You don't have to get an EP2500, an EP1500 will work very well also. I bought one of them for $180.00!

I just finished building an AE 15 with an Oaudio 500 watt plate amp and a regular box for less than $500.00. The guy I built it with has an SVS ultra plus and he said the new sub is better than the SVS. Nothing like a 15 inch driver.
