So I had an engienious idea this week. When I was first auditioning speakers I fell in love with maggies for my main set up but just didn't have the room. Now that I'm rebuilding my computer I thought hell get some good speakers.

My thought is to mount a pair on Magnepan MMG-W speakers on either side of my desk and use them for my computer speakers. They're cheap enough that I think it would be feasible, and I can finnally have a pair of maggies in the home. The problem is what do I use to power them? Obviously I can't run a line striaght frm the computer, but my question is do I need a processor for this or can I just run a line out from the computer to an amp? I'm upgrading to a Mac Pro to any suggestions are welcome.

Limits:
I have extremely limited space so the smaller the solution the better, if I could stack it on top of the computer tower, that would be ideal. Also I'm not looking to speand a great deal on this set up as it's not my primary listening rig, just something to have fun with.

Thanks everybody!
Andrew

Maybe something like this? You can find them used for around $150.
Okay! Now we're talking. I like the sounds of this. My question now is should I worry about running a full signal through speakers that are only designed to play down to 80Hz or do I need some sort of corss-over?
