Ive been looking for a nice stereo receiver on the net for a bit and have come across this Outlaw RR2150.
http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/rr2150.html

It was a little more then I wanted to spend plus they are out of stock right now. What else should I be looking at that's comparable to the Outlaw at around 400$ or is the Outlaw worth the 600$ and the wait?

I'm pairing it with Energy C3's and a STF-1 if needed.

Thank you for the input.

There really isn't anything else quite like the 2150 in terms of features (variable x-over for preamp sub out, USB, etc...). What you might look into is probably an integrated amp from someone else - Marantz, Rotel, NAD, etc... With an integrated, you could use either the preamp outs to the sub and drive the speakers off the speaker level outs. If you connect it via speaker level to the sub and then to the C3s, you will be stuck with the fixed high pass (it is not variable, the variable only applies to the low pass for the sub itself) of the STF-1.

Cambridge Audio might be something to look into also at www.audioadvisor.com The 540A and 640A are pretty nice little amps.

I'm very happy with my Marantz PM7200.

Depending on the power you require, I have heard and read good things about the Music Hall a25.2 integrated amp. I believe it has a sub-input. I don't think it has a phono input if that's important to you and only 50 w/pc may be insufficient depending on yoru speakers. Stereophile gave it a good review this month. I'm a big fan of Outlaw though, and their 2150 is also very highly acclaimed, higher power and offers a phono input and bass managment.

You may also want to look at used products, since so few quality stereo receivers are made anymore whereas Marantz, Technics, Pioneer, etc all made great stereo receivers back in the day.

If not vintage, you might even look at recent stereo receivers like the H/K 3480 which has a sub out also (though no crossover I believe) and a ton of power. They can be found new and used for pretty good prices. Check www.harmanaudio.com and their eBay store.

Thanks for the pointers. I have found selecting an amp my hardest buying decision.

Edit: That HK 3480 looks awesome, I think I finally found what I was looking for thank you :) Very nice price to boot.
