yea I know....its sounds really good for a family room. I am lucky I have pieced together this system over the last couple years the wife has been supportive enough I don't want to drop the "we need new speakers now" bomb on her haha.

The spread is so modest between the mains, relative to the distance to the LP, that I would undoubtedly get rid of the center speaker altogether. Those mains should image well enough as phantom, and no more worries of acoustic mismatch either. Besides, the thing says Bose on it.

Just turn center speaker off in the processor, and this channel is rerouted to mains. You can possibly suffer a bit more compression, but maybe you don't even listen that loudly. I bet it will sound better. I know that's what I would do, no doubt about it.

I just tried turning the center channel off. It just didn't sound right. The imaging of the left and right channels into a phantom center was pretty good but not as good as having the center on. I know it says bose on it whatever I need a slim center channel for this particular application and this one gets the job done quite well. For now I am extremely happy how the onkyo ties together 3 brands of different size speakers into a well balanced and smooth experience. The next time I will upgrade all my speakers is when I have a dedicated projection theater. That's why I got this particular onkyo I know its a little overkill now but down the road it will be sufficient to run a larger theater.
