Solving Radio Interference in Audio Cables?

I just bought a new subwoofer/speaker set for my computer from Altec Lansing. I had a pair of their speakers before and I had some cash so I upgraded.

Problem is, whenever the speakers are plugged into the subwoofer, I get radio interference on the speakers from the radio station at my college. The troubleshooting guide simply suggests moving the speakers, but my choices in that regard are limited as I only have so much desk space.

Purchasing new cables is not an option either, as the speaker cables are hardwired into the speakers themselves.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Good Luck!

Here's a pretty easy to read, yet comprehensive article on the topic.

However based, on your situation I think you are going to have a hard time solving this problem. You might want to try some line filters for the power going into your speakers, but that might not be enough if the station’s transmitter is close by, or if the power output of the station is rather high. I’ve seen (heard) RFI on a stereo system that was completely shut off before…now that’s a problem! Your best bet would be to harness the power of google in your search for an answer.
