So I replaced my SVS PC12+ with a RSL 12S

Bought my 12+ August 2013, driver replaced once under warranty, driver started making noise at certain frequencies but otherwise still worked. Didn't bother me too much. Got up the other morning and it wouldn't power on, amp was dead, took it as a sign.

I live in Hawaii so the 12S costs the same as a PB2000Pro from Crutchfield. Watched and read whatever reviews I could find and read the comment sections and it seemed the 12S was the preferred sub of the two overall. Plus it seemed to have a better build quality based on weight.

After setup and some testing with music and a few movie scenes, it's good but doesn't quite reach the 12+ performance. I would've had to go with the PB3000R to do better. Didn't want to spend that much and I don't listen as loud anymore so the 12S is fine for my use.

Just wanted to give my 2 cents.

I think RSL 12S is a fine sub, but not to be that guy, AH did measure both and PC12+ is clearly more powerful between the two (afaik PC12+ and PB12+ are nearly identical in performance)

I knew that going in as why I said it doesn't quite match my former 12+. However after a little more tweaking of some settings and at the volumes I listen at it's performing really well. Sounds great for music (can't say if it's better though, my audio memory is not that good) and I like that it's not as big. The 12+ really stood (stand) out (up) in the corner of my room. The 12S is deeper but being so much shorter it's much less noticeable with the lights on or during the day.

I remember when I moved the "water heater" out of the living room :) My Adire Tempest was a 15" tube sub, so taller than the SVS cylinders at the time.

Hmm interesting top-firing triple 3" high-flow flared ports on the SVS PC12+. Generally only top tier models have that now . 12S look like a good value , although some 15 inch models are around the same weight. PB3000R also looks nice , it’s about 1k more here the the 12S.
