So are the HD600/HD650 colored or not?!

I have seen that almost EVERYBODY on head-fi says that the HD600 and HD650 are better than the HD595, but in other places I have seen that HD595 are actually better for audiophiles because they are almost completely neutral, whereas the 600 and 650 have "enhanced" sounds, especially in the bass. So what's the deal here?

Also, I am going to get a new pair of headphones that are <$200. It seems to me like the HD595 are the best choice in this category, BY FAR, for several reasons:
-All other comparable headphones in this price range require an amp, whereas the HD595 are only about 50 ohms.
-Seem to have very neutral and true sound, which I am interested in
-Very comfortable, whereas there are lots of complaints with Grado headphones.

What other headphones would you guys say are worth looking at for <$200? It seems to me like the HD595 don't get enough credit.

Well, regardless of which of the above three models is actually more neutral -- let me ask you this: since when do audiophiles care about true accuracy? What they care about is how they perceive accuracy(when you find ones that claim to care about accuracy, which is no always the case), which is not the same thing.

Do you want the most neutral headphone I know of in existence? I mean true neutrality - not what you may percieve as what you consider neutral - but as in - if you use linear mics, stand at the same distance as the mics from the real sound source, and A/B the headphone with the sound source, and the headphone sounds nearly identical to the source. If that is what you mean, get a 2005(not the newest version) Beyer DT880 and apply a basic modification. The modification is to use a 1/8" thick piece of premium grade acoustic foam, cut a 3/4" hole in the center, and then cut the outer diameter to fit the inside of the ear pad circle of the headphone and use an acoustically transparent cloth to tuck under the pads to hold the foam in place. The foam fixes modal resonances in relation to the driver to ear distance that normally cause HF peaking/ringing.
