We have a Rotel 5.1 amp and processor in use for three years with zero issues .
Last night from the rears we noticed what can only be described as a high pitched log fire. Disregarding as a cable sound source, we ignored and turned off the system. Tonight, after a rough day at the circus, it was movie time. All speakers had the same sound as the rears did the night before. Nothing has changed in three years, so the investigation was on. First step, change the source, same result. Disconnect each component from the power conditioner to see if there was a culprit in the chain. Same result. Remove the power conditioner and plug directly into a power strip.Same result. Run a commercial duty extension cord and plug into another power source (another breaker). Same result. There is no hum or buzz indicating a grounding problem.
Before I hire a crane to move the amp and lift the front wheels on the Civic on the way to the repair shop, did I miss something? Did the Rotel say no more to action movies?
Appreciate any help.
