hmm.... so many good ideas here. Just curious, has anyone here ever cooked a hot dog by soldering two nails to a lamp cord, sticking the nails into the hot dog on each end, and then plugging it in?? I'm sure this process should be accompanied by "do not try this at home disclaimers...."

Bandit, I don't know about you but I would be willing to give up my teaching job to devote my time to developing the "InstaWeenie" cooker. Think we could be on to something?...perhaps a "as seen on Tv" product. We could offer it w/ selectable voltage!

I'll bet we could even come up with a DC model - so you could electrocute your hot dog simply by plugging into your cars accessory outlet.. !!

...or even a single 9v battery! Nothin' like a portable InstaWeenie cooker. Uses are endless. Quick lunch at the office, camping, civil war outbreak. The possibilities are endless.

There was a product sold on TV that did just what you suggest. It was called the "Hot Dogger" if my memory is correct.:D

You'd think if you taped all the vents shut the smoke wouldn't make it out of the receiver.

You would think that someone wouldn't put tape on the vents of a receiver, unless it is for kicks, which is exactly what this is.

I taped up the vents on my $100 Sony RX and hooked up 4 speakers in parallel to each channel and turned it up all the way.

It started smoking.

Is that normal?
Put your receiver on your BBQ then dump watter on the hot coals this should put the smoke back into your receiver.
Repeat as needed..

Go ahead and laugh. I used to work with an electrician who would cook his lunchtime hotdogs across the terminals of a 480V motor starter using nothing but a coathanger and a pair of high voltage gloves.

Mind you, this is the same guy who would come in Monday mornings hung over and sit by the oxygen vent of a liquid oxygen plant (LOX) while drinking his coffee. You had to keep an eye on him or he'd try to light up a cigarette.

I took two leads off a tesla coil transformer, soldered the wires on the back of my reciever's AC feed, then turned the reciever switch on and plugged the tesla coil in.... I thought the amp needed more power :D

Then it started smoking so I cooled it with muratic acid... and it didn't work....

So I did this:
