Slight problem with RS1

So all has been well with my new RS1 speakers except the fact they seem to bottom out fairly easy with bassier music ( hip hop even some meta)l. I don't think they are turned up too high nor do I think there is something wrong with the speakers because they sound terrific at lower volumes. They are only at -30 on my receiver when it starts to happen. It is loud, but I thought they would be able to put up with it better.

My question is whether you guys think I would have the same trouble if I upgraded to the RS6. Getting the RS1 speakers were a stretch money wise and I would like some feedback before spending even more money (being shipped so I can't just go listen to them).

Basically do the RS6 bottom out as easy as the RS1...if so is this something all monitor audio speakers are prone too or just the bronze/silver series.

thanks for the help, sorry for the convoluted question,

Troy

how about a subwoofer to take over below 80hz instead ... thats a better investment IMO and a safer bet you wont bottom out your setup than an RS6

I was thinking about getting a sub, but I live in a some what small apartment and think that even a STF-2 would be too much for my neighbors. I thought the RS6 might hold me over till I can play as loud as I like:D

edit: the JJ Abrams comment about Cloverfield?

you're in an apartment and you bottom the bookshelves? do you have an AV receiver? maybe set your bookshelves as small and crossover at 40hz?

could there be something wrong with your rs1's? what is your AV receiver?

re: JJ abrams, not about cloverfield ... i've boycotted his stuff ever since alias and lost. :)

How about a smaller sub like the x-sub or STF-1? They'll still put out more bass than the RS1's.

I find my RS-6's to have very nice bass, without my sub on and speakers set to large I can crank it with no apparent bottoming. Best speakers I've owned.:D

ive always found the silver seires "bottomed out a little", alot of youger kids liked them with electronic music. I vote for the sub addition to handle the lows.
