The media coverage is a big part of it. The big media outlets IMO thrive off showing violent news stories. It makes for good t.v. I will be watching the news and they will be reporting of some explosion somwehere and the other part of the screen will be showing a standoff between a man that fleed police in a car. Is it really necessary to show a live police chase on t.v. Double the violence, more ratings (sad but true).

Bad news sells. You're never going to hear anything positive come from them. That's why I don't watch it.

I prefer to get my news on the internet. I can skim over the headlines quickly to get an idea of whats going on in the world and then select what I want to read, that way I do not have to sit through a bunch of pointless drivel that does not interest me.

Im with you on that! Its the ones who are insane that i would like to see get fried first, if proven without a doubt, guilty. At least the clinically sane people might get some rehabilitation from 20 or so years in prison.
