I am upgrading my receiver soon possibly one with xm built in. I use 2 receivers now for inside and outside music with a Kenwood Sirius unit feeding both. Any way to pull the signal out of a receiver with xm built in to feed to another unit? Considering the Polk xm unit if I can't split the signal, anyone have any experiences with this unit? Thanks

XM radio connections.

Receiver with XM built in simply require a $50 "antenna" to be connected to the back of the receiver and allow the controls for XM to be integrated into the receivers display and remote. In these cases you should be able to use a tape out or zone 2 out on the receiver to route all audio (including XM) to the second receiver.

The polk receiver or one of the home kits for a car unit would be a solution for any receiver that is not "XM-ready". It looks like the polk includes 1 coax, and 1 optical digital output and 1 set of analog outputs. You could use a digital connection to the nearby receiver and analog to the other receiver.

I have XM at home and in both cars. I am curious what made you switch over from Sirius?

I have the Polk XM Tuner

It's a really nice peice of equipment, Burr-Brown DAC's with both cable & optical digital outs and also analog outs. It also has a composite video connection so you can see what's on the XM Tuners display on your TV. It's the same size as your other components and looks good in your Rack; the Kenwood Sirrus tuner I saw was an odd looking peice of equipment but I went with XM because it's supposed to have more music where Sirrus has more Sports I believe.

I got sick of hearing so many commercials on night so I bought it, you can get it off the XM Website for $200, sells for $300 everywhere else. I paid $144 for a year of service and a one-time activation fee of $15, this activation fee has been waived for the next couple of weeks by XM - you can activate online for free now.

I'm probably switching from Sirius to XM because XM has the better home equipment options such as built-in to various receivers and the Polk receiver. I have a receiver that provides music in the house and another receiver for outside music and I'm trying to get the best sound quality in satellite radio while only being charged for one unit. Probably the Polk unit is my best option. I may try to get one off ebay as I can't find a real good deal on a new one.

I believe XM also has better quality as far as compression schemes go, so you'll get higher quality sound via XM. My friends who have had both say XM is considerably better sounding than Sirius.
