Hi All,

Relatively new to the forum in posting but have been lurking now and then, but have a question with regards to the single "surround" speaker such as the Yamaha "sigital sound projectorss or the pricer B&W "Panorama". Does anyone have experience with these compared to the traditional 5.1 or 7.1 systems?

Thanks

Wow, you've been around here for a long time.
Anyway, the best thing you can do is just go listen to one. They are a decent alternative in some rooms and make a great compromise to complex installs or limited space or wifey issues. They are going to be much much better than your built in TV speakers in most cases, but to compare to a true surround sound? Eh, thats really apples and oranges. Just go demo one or even better yet, bring one home and try it out and see if it fits your needs. But I'm sure you already knew everything I just typed.

Thanks for your reply.

You are right, I know I can only get the true sound by trying one out. Have been thinking about moving around the rooms and the "family" viewing room does not facilitate a bunch of speakers (not that I don't have them!). You are exactly right, complex installs or limited space or wifey issues - all of the above.

Just want to get a feel of opinions out there on these. They have been out for a relatively short time, wait for more technical advancements?
