Single Driver Center Channel

Seriously, I have no life.
Very true.

I just rechecked the measurements and the measurement is telling me that from 6khz-12khz it is down 13db. From 12-20 the measurement is down 31db.

The Songcenter measurement is definitely off, since Dennis Murphy checked it and made sure it was pretty darn close to spec before I received it. I guess I have some experimentation to do.
Yes, that drop off is way too steep. You must have a measuring problem

There we go. This measurement is from the LP, ear height, with the ECM 8000. Now I'm getting the rolloff at the top end as it should be. The center is 7db down from 6khz to 12khz.

I may. I have to figure out a better situation for switching back and forth between the two speakers and better placement for both of them. I also have to figure out if I can write a review and have it make any sense at all  :D

If I can articulate how it sounds better than "Uhhh it sounds pretty good when I play stuff through it" then I'll give it a shot. :p

Read some cable reviews if you need help on the flowery language. :D

Buttery, silky, chocolaty, crunchy? Crunchy? I'm getting hungry. Speaker adjectives excite the wrong emotions :p

Well, nothing like jumping in face first. Far from perfect, far from done, the center channel is no longer naked.

Got a little more work done today. I had to sand down that first coat since I ended up wayyy too heavy and there were drips all over the place. Still getting the hang of this whole spray gun thing, but these last couple coats came out really well and they're much much smoother than I thought and hoped they would be. One or two more coats and they'll be ready for a topcoat.

Ok, last one. Finally got my sound card and mic figured out so both are now calibrated properly and I finished the center. At least for now. I could have done a better job on the grill, but for a first attempt I think it went very OK. Lessons learned. Anywho, here's what it looks like now.

Here are the measurements I took and as you can see everything looks as it should. Measurements are from 0, 45, and 90 degrees with 1/24 smoothing. While appearance still leaves a little bit to be desired, performance can't be argued with.

Love that blue makes it standout, just love it! How about a pic without grills? Great job. No how to make a grill pics? :)

You don't want to see a pic without the grills. My taping job also leaves something to be desired, mostly because of the odd way the driver is mounted. Since it was siliconed on from the back, because there is no sealing edge, it made taping things off a bit precarious, and painting as well. The end result is a bit of area all around the driver that is raw MDF/Bondo. Hence the grill :D
