I'm enjoying your discussion on the HK amps. First of all I want to say that J&R music world is selling the new HK Receiver 235 for $349 and free shipping.
This is a nice upgrade from the 230. Super price too. Also, J&R is a HK dealer recommended from the HK site.
On the power supplies.....I have been listening to a Scott tube amp rated at 45 watts per channel for quite a while and though I know a two channel tube amp is sweeter than a receiver can ever dream of being, these things run strong, hot, and wide open. A lot of strength in the bottom and lower midrange. Especially this Scott. The HK amps give you that thump and awe in the bottom registers too. Not boomy bass but a real sense of impact. And you can't go wrong with that newer look. At least I think it's a refreshing look after black forever.
