silly sub question...

That's funny, I have the same thing under my sub:D
The racket balls probably won't work as Chris mentioned they will be too stiff. The foam on a wood floor is just fine, it is fairly soft and won't scratch the finish or anything. This would probably be your easiest alternative. I have one of these on wood floor with zero issues.

I dont think the auralex platform will work for my sub as it will have much bigger footprint ( 2'X2'). I am thinking about making my sub out of mdf board the first time and see what will work best for the decoupling and overall design of being built to look like end table. I am thinking that the racket ball suspension has definite possibilities as they are soft and should squish a bit under the weight. I could make 4 square box feet with the bottom open of course and have the "cage" being 1/2" smaller than the diameter of the ball ( I could always add spacers to adjust for the squish factor.
Another downside of using foam is it will need to be replaced someday.

Greg I like the way your system looks. It looks like you got the biggest center speaker you could fit in your cabinet:D What speaker stands do you have?

Na man, the center space in the credenza is 33"' wide and 15'' tall. It looks like it is a little tight in the pictures but it is over to the left and then angled up which makes it look like it is taking up all the height. There is also a removable self that it sets on but I used the self to claim a little more ground for future add-ons.

The stands are Premier J-series and were made for the studios. They list for an ungodly $350 but I got my dealer to give them to me for half that. The mounting holes align with the holes in the Studio 20's and 40's and they came with a wide variety of spikes for the floor and spikes between the stand and speaker.

This is how far I have gotten so far. It seems as though I have to wait until Feb. 11 for the 705 to arrive. I made changes in design as I built. I have the behringer ep 2500 and perfet kappa 12 VQ now. I must have made a miscalculation on the port and need to make it a little longer, and need to fill up some volume that would have been taken up by the plate amp. When I went back to lumberyard for a 4X4 extra sheet I apparently got particle board instead of mdf board.

Is the oc 705 insulation nessecary?
Will I notice a difference using particle board for the two braces and doubled up for the bottom?

Thinking about screwing it together and trying it without the insulation.

Chris I did pm and e-mail you, not sure if you got them or if your busy.

Proper internal dampening within the subwoofer is vital to achieving high fidelity sound reproduction. You can always screw it together and insert the OC705 through the opening used for the driver as I did.

It is unlikely you will notice any differences. If you are thinking about adding more bracing to the box you really don't need to.

Also, you could try and model your current volume and port length in WinISD before making any changes as well. It might save you some time and work.

I will give the program a chance to see if i can be lazy.
So far the sub box it completely glued, not one nail or screw so far. After I glue the bottom on the box I will no longer be able to add the insulation to 1/3 of the box. I dont trust screws in mdf or particle board, but I could use Tnuts and bolts to temp hold the bottom of the sub box on. It is just a shame to sit here and look at all of the parts and not be able to hear how it sounds. Especially since after I know that is sounds good I will take driver out and attempt to finish the outside and make whatever feet permanent.

Updated pics, my volume is at 4.361 and should be at 3.8cu ft. But the good news is my port is actually at the right length (close enough for me) 12X12.25X57.75
