Why? As long as they get it to spec, it should be fine and they don't have to be without it while the transfer happens.

for the $52 a month with cable not including promos you'll get 18-20 downloads, 1-2 uploads I cant live with slow downloads with legal music flac live shows averaging 1-2 gigs a show

Yes, it was the modem. Way better now.

The tech said if we switch to U-Verse it will be ungodly fast as the station is 600 yards from our house. I have never looked into their packages or service but it looks like it would be less expensive if we switched over the landline, Direct TV (which we hate) and ISP.

Any insight on their HD service? FIOS is not in our area.

I'm just surprised ParadigmDawg, I've always seen you as a “top of the line” kind of guy! Paradigm Sigs, an amazing pool...why not a blazing connection?

Sorry, I personally don’t know jack about Uverse. Seeing as I live in the abyss of Indiana the only thing in our area for HSI is Comcast.

I tried looking some stuff up over at the Uverse Forum at DSL reports but didn’t find anything concrete. I find the IPTV concept interesting and yet foreign at the same time. I’d imagine you’d definitely see a boost in internet speed depending on what tier you choose, but beyond that I’m worthless.

I’m going to say that the IPTV interface may or may not have a learning curve…

Uverse can be really great as it is usually fiber to pole. This is very good as it offers very good bandwidth for whatever you are running in your house.

ATT is also very good at leveraging that bandwidth with your service plan. IE, if you have just internet they can divert the full amount of bandwidth going to your house to just internet. So instead of someone that has internet/phone/cable that gets a 5MB line they would be able to bump you to 15MB or 20MB for your WAN bandwidth (internet).

UVerse was set up yesterday and seems really good. I was so sick and tired of dropping signal from DirecTV and this seemed like the best option in my area.

Top tier HD package, ISP and landline via VOIP cost me about the same as I was paying.

I will let you guys know if I encounter any issues but so far, so good.

Let me re-phrase my question- does it sound good and do they play good music? If you're familiar with Deep Tracks, Bluesville, Beyond Jazz and shows like them, I'd like to know if U-Verse music channels are as good.
