Good Afternoon Everyone:
I'm new to this forum, this is my first post. I've been listening to my sherwood s 7650 cp for the last 3 hours, everything has been fine. All of a sudden my volume drops down to nothing. So I turn volume up, and have to go all the way up to have any at all. There is a little distortion, and static in the speakers now. Also in checking everything, the loudness switch has no affect. No odd smells, coming from receiver, like something burned out. Checked other sources, and it does the same on all. Any ideas what might have happened? I don't have repair manual,or schematics, gonna try to find on net later. Any and all suggestions, appericated. Thanks in Advance.

Sounds like a power supply problem with a rail voltage dropping very low. Likely a failed voltage regulator, diode or dry solder joint. This receivers are so crammed in they are very hard to service. Modern manufacturers do not usually release circuits which is a disgrace.
