A month ago I purchased this outstanding surround set in Phoenix, Arizona from Showcase Home Theater which has since gone out of business. I don't know the parent company JM labs well but I understand that they are a French company that makes high end loudspeakers. My question is related to servicing of Sib&Co/JM Labs products in Arizona. The subwoofer from the set has a hum that I can't seem to resolve and I would greatly appreciate any information on service centers that might be able to address this issue. The product is under full manufacturer warranty but I don't know where to take it. Thanks an advance for any help.

My sub is also huming

Hi
I have the same problem. Dont know how to correct it. Two observation if I put the switch from off to standby it doesn't hum, but if i played music it continues to hum also in the stand by position. Its seems to have something to do with the input cables (line input) because the hum stops when take out those. But it hums when they are, even if the amplifier is off.

Have you found any solution?

/Paul

You have a classic ground loop. This occurs when equipment is connected, that has an electrical potential between grounds. The sub carrying the bass is most likely to reproduce it.

The most frequent offender, is cable satellite systems.

Start by making sure everything including the sub has the same ground. That means plugging everything into the same outlet. Then disconnect any cable or satellite leads and see if the hum goes away. If not disconnect everything from the receiver one by one until the hum goes away.

If the problem is the cable box which it usually is, then you can get a ground isolator from Jensen to fix the problem.

Follow this plan and let us know what is causing your ground loop and we will advise further.

Does the subwoofer hum if the input leads are disconnected?

You likely have a ground loop, see my answer to the other inquirer above.
