I'm probably not the right person to ask about Samsung products as I have a solid hate for them. They have disappointed me so many times over the years. That player gets good reviews so I'd read some of them.
Your need for SACD or DVD AUDIO if you need these audio formats then get the x800 fixed or get the X1000es. The Sony players are much nicer then just about everything on the market. I'm thinking the X800 is the best overall budget player right now. You could check out the X700 which you lose DVD AUDIO but gain Dolby Vision if that matters to you. It's a crappy built player like the ones before the X800 and X1000ES but it works and is cheap.
I have one if you want it it's like brand new as I only used it for a week or 2 as I purchased the Oppo 203 and now the X700 is back in it's box. PM me if you would like to buy it.
My question is the X800 out of warranty? Maybe you can just get it fixed? I'd check that out first before purchasing a new player.
