You will want Wi-Fi or a wired connection to a modem/router, otherwise, you will need to occasionally go to the player's web site to download firmware updates, which will then need to be burned to a CD and thereafter inserted into the player for firmware to be updated. You may also want your player to play SACDs. At any rate, you can get a new Sony universal player which will do it all for about $200. Having such a player you won't be wishing for anything when you encounter a need for something you never thought about needing.
OK, so with Ethernet port, you do not need wireless for automatic updates to firmware. If your SACD player is stereo only, then you still may prefer a Sony such as I and another poster mentioned, which will play multi-channel SACD from HDMI audio output. Of course, that's assuming your AVR or pre/pro has HDMI input. At any rate, the Sony will give you really good value.
I got a LG Blu-ray player off the internet paid under 50 bucks new. It over two years old going strong. It has wired internet never hooked it up. I could have just to do so but I didn't does everything its should do. Most of the firmware updates I have come to find are to update the apps. My SmartTv has all the apps I need. Never use them anyways those so called Apps, are mostly about getting into your wallet. So a cheap Blu-ray sure if you get two, three or more years of use out of it than 50 or so bucks isn't a lot of coin.
