Sherlock Holmes

I've never read Sherlock Holmes, but did his character know martial arts like kung-fu or karate or similar?

You hear about it when Holmes tells Watson about fighting Moriarty at Reichenbach Falls. He says he used Baritsu. Conan Doyle actually meant Bartitsu which was a version of jujitsu brought to England by a guy named Barton.

Usually he had Watson bring along his service revolver but I don't remember a great deal of shooting in the stories.

I don't really even remember the books. I read them in junior high and that was quite a while ago... I just remember liking them.
