Soon after making Sheep moderator, several fuddie-duddie stick up their bung forum members suddenly found themselves in need of a new forum in which to post their overly serious drivel.
Precisely the type of rank, amateurish, mindless drivel I was referring to. It never ceases to amaze me how some people react to postings with which they disagree...but then again, there are no age restrictions here. Nevertheless, this is the steam vent, and as such, it is the seemingly appropriate place for such rantings.

Then why comment on it?

Because my original post in this thread was a thumb's up for Sheep. I have literally read hundreds of his posts, and I have an issue with only one of his threads...that's not bad odds. And I was in a somewhat serious discourse in that thread (The Ultimate) when it clearly got diverted, in a bad way. I am not saying Sheep was entirely responsible for that, but the things we write and say have a propensity to perpetuate themselves, and I fear that that The Ultimate is one thread Sheep would like to excuse himself from. This forum is far more opinions than it is scientific, or even technical. Nevertheless, I still find it informative and entertaining at times. It just does not bode well for the forum when the banter gets personal and offensive...what do the newcomers think? Besides, this is the Steam vent, and I'm in the venting mode.

John - I am saying that Sheep, right after being made moderator, would ban the members who take it all to seriously and cause the other 99.9% of us who enjoy things to have headaches. It was a joke. Don't get uptight on my post which was just poking fun. :) I have no problems with Sheep and think that he gets wrung out over some silly things when he is just trying to help sometimes.

BMXTRIX: Understood and agreed. I am not uptight, and I am trying to not be too serious. And I entirely agree that posts (and their posters) such as Potzi's ought to be banned. Posts like that are offensive and are far more appropriate at Myspace or other juvenile sites. My digression here has gone far enough...it seems that I have unintentionally hijacked this thread from Sheep, and for that I apologize. Audiophiles Unite! And back to the more pertinent matter of voting for Sheep!

Um, this isn't my thread. Its Bob's. I had NOTHING to do with this vote. Bob and Buck came up with it, and sprung it on me half an hour after it was posted.

Looks like you should run for office - an approval rating twice the president's seems pretty solid to me. ;)

Even though I'm wearing a shirt older than the Sheep, I wish I'd known as much about audio when I was his age. Good head on his shoulders (for a Canadian). Let him do it.

First there is a thread to ban political threads and now we have a thread to elect a new moderator   .

Did I miss something? Have Gene and/or Clint granted us amazing new powers to run the forum the way we want based on a majority rule? If so, I have a lot of new threads and topics that I think we need to take a vote on (motion to elect me as supreme ruler of Audioholics comes to mind ;) ).

Anyway, I have nothing against Sheep becoming a moderator, but unless the forum members actually have this type of power, I'm trying to figure out what the point of this thread is - unless it was all in fun (in which case it appears that some are taking it a little too seriously).

Anywho . . . . . . I would like to make a motion to institute random bannings. It will keep the members on their toes as well as bring much needed stability to the forum through fear and confusion. All in favor . . . . . .

How about MacManNM...?

That way either you always have someone you like, or you have someone you can always hate. Pick your poison. ;)

I don't think enough people are taking this as serious as they should.

Sheep reporting in, I have about 9 beers in me so be nice.

First of all, this thread is for fun. I asked Gene if I could be a mod and he said no. I respected his decision and dropped the subject. Bob made a thread for fun. As in, not serious, and this vote doesn't count.

Second, this thread was a bad idea. Now everyone is checking my posts and questioning my abilities. Bringing up old threads and posts of mine in awkward situations. Now I admit I am not perfect, but I never say anything I won't backup. If I am wrong, so be it. But as far as ethics, I have never had second thoughts. If people like me, great, I hope you will be a mutual friend. If you don't, so be it. Everyone has likable and unlikable qualities, and I am well aware of my unlikeable.

Again, this thread was for fun, and it is starting to turn into a mistake. Take it for what you will, and it was NEVER my idea.

well sheep likable 41 votes. unlikable 21 votes.

2/3 of the people like you. that sounds pretty good to me.

you can do a lot of things in congress with a 2/3's vote. (or congress equivalent in canada)

Regardless of how many posted, its wrong of me and anyone involed to force them to vote. I am not P. Diddy :D

All I want is to do is help people on the forum, try not to come off as an a-hole(If I did, I am sorry, PM me and me can resolve the issue) and keep the forum clean and efficient.

Anywho, back to drinking! :D
