There are any number of ways to do this.
1. Modulate the video onto a specific channel using modulators. This is typically very convenient if you have access to your cable distribution hub of your home.
2. Use a product like the Squeezebox (I think) and put it on CAT-5.
3. Use video splitters (active not passive) to send the video over traditional RG-6/coaxial wiring to the different locations in your home.
4. If the DVR is HDTV then you are pretty much stuck with option 3.
I do HD matrixing through my home to 4 displays (currently) and have 6 different component video sources that I can send anywhere in my home. The matrix switcher was about $300 for an older one from eBay and the wiring was hours and hours of work. The plus is that my 2 HD DVRs can be played anywhere, the PS3 can work in the family room - or the playroom. The 400 Disc DVD player can show something on the projector, or if it's a cartoon for my son, we can send it to his playroom.
Now I just need three or four more HDTVs.
