Hi all.
Here's the equipment:
Emotiva MMC1 processor (7.1)
Emotiva LPA1 amp (7 ch)
Harman Kardon avr325 (7.1)
Axiom 60's
Axiom 150 center
Axiom QS8 surrounds
Axiom 350 sub
Monster THX 200 towers
Monster THX 200 monitors (x3)
Ok, 'fore ya'll laugh, the Monsters are really nice, considering I paid only $1k for all 5, incl stands. Took 'em off a friend's hands...
I'd naturally like to utilize all 4 towers up front, the Axiom center only, the QS8's (quads, awesome) as side axis (MMC's expansion of front RL) and Monster surrounds. Might go with the last Monster monitor as a 6, or stick with the satisfying and correctly sized little Infinity's I use for the rear surrounds in 7.1.
How can I get the sound correctly distributed; must I wire in series (and skip the HK AVR)? Emotiva's manual gives detailed direction but clearly doesn't recommend.
The MMC1 is vastly superior to the old HK AVR, as is the LPA1, but I'm hoping to somehow passively use its amps so I don't have to wire in series.
If I run from fixed level outputs on the MMC to the AVR, is there a way to bypass the processing of the AVR? I'd like everything processed by the MMC...
I think I can run both analog and optical out of the MMC to the AVR; is any input ok (video 1, 2, etc), or do I need a specific input that's more passive (for lack of a better term)?
So the basic question is utilizing the additional speakers and getting the sound correctly distributed in 6.1 or 7.1.
Although the LPA1's manual doesn't recommend series, their site says the amp is stable with 4 ohm loads.
Many thanks
