Seems like once a week or so my distance, channel adjust and cross over settings go back to default. It makes me nuts. It's just as if I unplugged it. My sig lists my gear. Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Power flickering? Can't rely on digital clocks-alot of them have battery backups to keep the time in case of power going out these days...just a thought.

Call tech support

Call tech support. Maybe you can get an upgrade replacement unit if it is under warranty. There might also be a firmware update to resolve the problem.

I've had the same thought and have read up on the Smart UPS.

There is a firmware update. I've got it on CD from Harman Kardon with the instructions sitting in a drawer with the manual. I've had it for a year now. I'm lacking an RS-232 wire and the balls to fool with it. A laptop would be nice.

I guess update first and then if the problem persists a UPS might be in order?

Thanks
Alex

Do you leave unit on all the time? My Rotel will do that if power is interupted breifly but if I leave it off when not in use it is fine.

I don't leave it on all the time. I just installed the upgrade. The HK disc didn't work. I had to use the download. I think the real problem is two fold.
1. Battery for memory might be fried.
2. My kid was messing with me. Maybe.
He hasn't been around for a while and there has been no problem since.
I'm glad to have the upgrade done.

This is out of a service manual so at least I know it's a real problem with a solution. I'm very unlikely to have it fixed though.

Subject: Backup Memory on AVR/DPR/HK series receivers
In the event of the complaint: “the receiver is losing its memory (any programmed system settings)
when the unit is turned off, or after the unit is unplugged (briefly*)”:
Check and replace:
Model Designator Location Description Part number

AVR430/630 C657 DSP PCB 0.047 Farad 5.5v capacitor # CEZXA0479MN-5
