Setting up Sony DVD Changer

Need a little help with settings on a (approx. 20 years old) Sony DVP-NC800H DVD changer for the living room system. Using HDMI to the RZ50.
It asks if you are using line or digital out. Which is weird because it should also ask if you are using co-ax, optical or HDMI. So I obviously selected "digital output"
Dolby Digital/D-PCM, I should select Dolby Digital, correct?
DTS on or off? I selected "off" for now.

Instructions are on Page 10. You have to select the Dolby Digital output.

You have to select Dolby Digital it is not automatic as far as I can tell. That unit has a very early version of HDMI so don't be surprised if it does not work.

Thx. It does seem to work pretty good. No wear and tear and clean. Even the remote buttons have zero wear.

I was wondering, since TLS Guy mentioned the super old HDMI output this thing has, would I be better off unplugging the hdmi cable and instead use the video RCA and coax out into my Onkyo AVR? Providing you could use together the RZ50's video in and coax in as the DVD function. @Trebdp83 would probably know the answer to that. It seems it would, since the coax is assignable. I do not need the most pristine picture (heck, I use DVD's not Bluerays anyway!). I am only really interested in the best sound I can get out of this player. So if the RZ50 can upconvert the sound better via coax than it could with HDMI, I'd be interested to know. I am using the only optical input at the moment for something else, so that's a no-go.

Stick with the HDMI connection. The Component input is crippled and supports 480i but not 480p. Nothing will be gained here using the optical or coaxial digital port compared to the HDMI port.

Ok. Probably the best DSP for this purpose would be Neural X or should it do fine with Dolby Audio - Surround?

Dolby Surround may do a better job with most Dolby signals. DTS Neural:X does a better job with DTS signals and sometimes will improve dialogue with Dolby signals. Results will vary of course.
