Hello fellow holics I recently put together a new H/T & music system consisting of:

NAD T753 receiver
JM Labs 714 Chorus S mains
JM Labs 705 Chorus S surrounds
JM Labs CC 70 center
Yamaha DVD C920
Hsu STF2 sub
Analysis plus cable
Monster Power 850 power strip
Monster Power Sub outlet

Total system price around $3800

I seem to be experiencing some line noise and was wondering if my system needs a power conditioner at all. I have the Monster Power 850 powerstrip that is left over from my last entry level system, but I have heard that the power strips compress the music and take away power from the amps. Is this fact or fiction?? Also if I dont use a line conditioner what am I supposed to do for surge protection? I also have the sub connected to a separate outlet through a Monster sub conditioner.

Lots of people in the know say Monster Power is just a bunch of crap and clever marketing. I think I tend to agree.

May I ask pro installers and audiophiles what do I need protecting my system and is a line conditioner really necessary?
