I have had a lot of PMs from several members here giving great advice and certainly have learned a lot from the discussions in the threads I started...
so... I have been looking at a lot of speakers and really needed to wait until my new TV and stand were in the living room before I decided what I could purchase from a size stand point... well... got my TV and stand delivered today and now I can begin to narrow down my speaker selection.
Here is what I have purchased recently:
Panasonic 46PZ85U Plasma
Yamaha V663 (bought it used)
Oppo 981HD (bought it used)
HSU VTF-2 Mk2 (bought it used)
PS3 (on order from Sony)
The speakers I have now are the Bose Acoustimass 15s. Worst speaker investment I ever made 7 years ago. The speakers still work fine, but the bass module died from the stand point that the little bass I did have is gone.
My intention at the moment is the use the Bose with the HSU sub I have coming, but I don't want to put that ugly bass module in my room long term.
As I mentioned before, HT & Music are important to me. My family likes to watch movies, and I love listening to music.
After getting the TV and stand in my living room, something became painfully obvious... I have no room for floorstanders or even bookshelf speakers. I am going to have to go with a compact speaker system for now until we move into a bigger house next fall.
I realize off the bat that I am not going to get the fidelity out of a compact speaker system as I will with some nice floorstanders, but I need to get the best I can afford and just live with it for the next year. After we move, I will be able to move on to the next level so to speak.
With all that said... what are the best compact speaker systems out there for HT and hopefully do fairly well with music. I realize I may not get to have both. Keep in mind I have a Yamaha v663 and the HSU sub.

Doing some research, looks like PSB makes the Alpha CLR1, which is fairly compact. I look forward to any recommendations!
