Setting up Denon 2106 possible w/ no Remote ?

Did a dumb-fool thing likely, ......purchased a Denon 2106 on Ebay w/o remote or manual. Seller says only used 10 hours and works. Fires up w/ power on and all switches / functions appear to work but no sound. I checked and double checked my wires

The Denon manual says to check "mute"...which seems no-brainer, but without the remote....can the unit be turned off "mute"?

Is there any other reason other than broken that the amp/reciever is silent or do I just need to get ahold of a remote and setup feature.

It looks spotless. Did I take a chance or am I missing something right in front of me having to do w/ setup , wiring, etc. that I didn't understand about the Denon 2106?

No remote and no manual?

I do know my 2802 wouldn't make a sound (even on FM) until I went through the setup procedure, which was in the manual. ..and I needed the remote, too.

Iffens I were you, the first thing I'd do is to try to dig up a manual. Many, not all, manufacturer offer them on their web site. If not, try ebay or google.

Then, depending on whatthe manual says, perhaps (perhaps?) you'll want a remote. You might want to contact Denon on this one.

It does seem a bit odd that he didn't sent the remote and manual for a unit with only 10 hours of use. Maybe that's why he didn't use it? He couldn't figure it out?

A lot of AVRs do need set up before you can get any sound. I would run and get a universal like the Harmony that you can set up through your computer. You will want it later on anyway.

Thought so....thanks

Yeah...I downloaded the 2106 manual from Denon and it all directs startup from the remote using the setup feature. This was a sales/business office going through liquidation and they likely misplaced the remote and paperwork after having never really hooked the thing up. Anyway...I got it for $104 dollars and truly looks new out of the box and as if never a wire plugged in. Thought it worth buying a remote.
